Ward 2 · Milton · Halton Region 2026

Yagya Paudel, PhD

Milton is growing fast. It deserves a councillor who keeps up.

Ward 2 needs someone who really understands what growth costs people. The traffic that keeps getting worse. The long wait to see a doctor. The property tax that climbs every year. The school ratings that need to be improved. The good jobs that are hard to find close to home because innovation is not being implemented for economic development. I am a scientist, a program manager, and your neighbour in Ward 2, and I am running to make sure Milton's growth works for everyone who lives here now and everyone who is just arriving.

Yagya Paudel, candidate for Regional Councillor, Ward 2, Milton

The platform

Four issues. Real solutions.

Every candidate talks about growth. I am focused on what growth actually asks of us. The roads you sit in every morning. The doctor you cannot get an appointment with. The property tax you can barely cover. The school ratings that need to be improved. The innovation that needs to be implemented for economic development.

People first: youth, families, seniors, and newcomers

Some of the people who need the most help in Milton get the least of it. Newcomer families finding their feet. Young people figuring out their future. Seniors trying to make a fixed income stretch. They deserve real support, not a mention in a speech. I will push for mental health services people can actually reach, addiction support, better access to healthcare, programs that help everyone feel like they belong here, and real investment in our schools so ratings and quality improve across Ward 2. No one should be left behind while the town brags about how fast it is growing.

Fix it before you build it: traffic, infrastructure, and safety

We keep approving new neighbourhoods while the roads, crosswalks, and transit meant to serve them stay years behind. That has to change. I will fight for better transit links to Toronto, Mississauga, and Burlington, safer streets near our schools, brighter lighting and proper pedestrian crossings, and emergency services that can keep up with how many of us now live here. Let us get this right before the next subdivision goes up, not long after.

Affordability and accountable leadership

Property taxes, utility bills, and housing costs keep climbing, and they are pushing out the very families who built this community. I will stand against careless tax hikes, ask hard questions about how our regional money gets spent, and hold regular town halls so you always know what is being decided in your name and why.

Innovation economy: better jobs, smarter growth

Milton should be more than a place people sleep before they commute somewhere else. Innovation needs to be implemented here, not just talked about. With my background in biotech and program management, I will work to bring in strong employers in biotech, advanced manufacturing, and the innovation sector. I will back local entrepreneurs and connect industry, schools, and healthcare so we create good jobs right here at home.

About Yagya

A different kind of candidate

I am not a career politician. I am a Ward 2 resident who has spent my working life solving hard problems, leading programs in the biotech sector, managing teams, and getting real results across complicated systems.

What pushes me to run is simple. I see the gap between what Milton promises and what it actually delivers to the people who need it most. Families trying to get through a healthcare system that is stretched thin. Young people who cannot find local jobs worth staying for. Newcomers with no clear path to feeling part of this community. Seniors watching their fixed income lose ground every month.

These are not abstract policy problems. This is daily life in Ward 2 right now, and it deserves someone at the regional table who treats it that way.

"Milton's growth is real and it is impressive. But growth that does not serve the people already here, and the people arriving, is not progress. It is just development."

Commitments

What I will do in office

  • Fight for expanded mental health, addiction, and public health services at the regional level, with real funding behind them and not just kind words.

  • Make sure roads, transit, schools, and healthcare facilities are ready before major development gets approved, instead of years later.

  • Hold open town halls in Ward 2 and share plain language updates on every big regional decision that affects you.

  • Bring innovation sector employers to Milton and build job partnerships with our schools and healthcare institutions.

  • Stand up for property tax discipline that matches real life, so seniors and young families are not priced out of their own community.

  • Push for more frequent GO Transit and smarter local routes that actually work for commuters, students, and seniors.

  • Work directly with school boards to raise school ratings and quality across Ward 2 so every child gets the education they deserve.

  • Drive real implementation of innovation policy in biotech, advanced manufacturing, and clean technology so Milton keeps pace with the future.

Ward 2 deserves a voice built for now, not 1994.

If you live in Ward 2 and you are ready for a councillor who brings real expertise and real accountability to the table, I would be honoured to have your support.
